I had a great time at the local author showcase in Faversham, a couple of days after watching the engaging Joanne Harris talk about her new book Vianne, a prequel to Chocolat.
It was to great meet fellow writers and talk about Bain Rock. I was nervous standing and reading the first few pages, but hopefully my enthusiasm and love of writing came through. My lovely wife Lou came to support me too.
I was also lucky enough to watch my old University Master's Professor Jeanette Winterson talk about her new book One Aladdin Two Lamps. She's brilliant and I'm always in awe of her eloquence and creative genius. I first read her novels in 2001 when I lived in New Zealand but little did I know then that she'd be my tutor in 2016.
I lived in quite a rural and isolated village in Lancashire when I decided to do my Masters in Creative Writing. I worked a Sunday in urgent care in Blackpool so that I could go to Uni and attend the writing workshops on a Monday. I loved it and made friends and beta readers for life!
